A homeowner should never underestimate the seriousness of drainage problems. Although the slow-moving drain seems like a small problem, it can quickly escalate into a much bigger issue in a short period of time. Slow drains are the indications of varieties of problems including clogging. Getting the help from companies that provide emergency drain repair services in the earlier stage is the best option.

One of the main reasons for the clogged sewer line is the tree roots, especially in an old house. Experts say slow flowing drains, and gurgling noises from your toilet bowls are the first signs that your sewer system is being affected by tree roots. If you don't take some action to remove the roots, a complete sewer line block will occur.

Fill your sinks to the top and then drain them once or twice a month. It will help to have proper flow through the pipes and move out any waste that sits in the line. Pour vinegar down the drain and chase it down with very hot water. This is also an effective method to prevent drain clogging. Because vinegar contains acetic acid which is an excellent organic solvent that helps in removing the buildup of crud in pipes.

I think this post will be useful.

Vinegar also kills vegetation so maybe it helps get rid of some of the roots but it is so diluted, so maybe not.

Sorry, but... If you start with brand new pipe and keep them from any buildup, you may have a chance to keep them clear for a longer period of time. If you have a well used drain system, You can pour all the vinegar down the drain and the result will be that you poured vinegar down the drain. Even concentrated sulfuric acid will not clear some cloggs. What will work for a time is mechanical sliceing or dicing of the clog and / or roots.

If roots get into pipes leading to septic system, REPLACE THOSE PIPES NOW! Roots at the end of a septic field can be a good thing as they will utilize the water and nutrients.

Roots got into old skeptics because the pipes were clay pipes that have either lost their seal or are broken. They use thick plastic now that roots can't get into.
