A little old man give me great tip for my fig trees , that need to be moved inside every fall. He said to plant them in garbage cans that have wheels, then you can just roll them around. Problem is all summer I keep them around the hot tub for a tropical feel. Would kind of lose that feel with garbage can planters. There are very creative people here, sure someone would have ideas to disguise them.

If you plant them in tubs, or tall pots, couldn't you just use a hand truck? The ones with large pneumatic tires roll very nicely over rough ground. Just secure them with a tie down and you're good to go. I've moved my half barrels (filled and planted ) with one.

If it were me I'd prefer to start with something pretty that I liked, than disguise something ugly and try to make it look better.

Hey, I like that idea. If my Brown Turkey fig that I planted outside this year doesn't survive, I'll buy a new one and try that. Sounds like it would give more adequate room for the roots too.

Maybe wrap the can with one of those bamboo mats? They make them pretty big and they're usually not too expensive.

Welll, I can't top that!

When i first shifted my brain in gear, I was thinking ~ round ~ garbage can. Of course the classic galvanized but there are wheeled plastic ones. You see custodians with them, inside buildings.

So, interior design (although I like the strawberry pot idea :).)

Paint. Use kitchen canisters for design ideas.

Rope. We see these in bathrooms sometimes. Wrapping with braided nylon would be best for outdoors.

Landscape fabric. Use twice as much as necessary so that it hangs in pleats.

Go to thrift store for LARGE women's clothing every spring. Dress it as a bag lady and put 2nd tree in a shopping cart ...

Find a rancher or a feed store & ask them if they have any molasses tubs. The are great for container growing (really thick & weather proof). They are 24" across & 24" high. They are the same as the below pic.

You can even spray paint them a complimentary color if you wish.

Right, Steve! I get an industrial supply catalog that offers large, round, extra-strength, garbage containers on wheels. Those would be sturdier and much easier to fit into the environment.
