Last spring I got a dumptruck of horses manure. By winter I only used half the pile. I use it to improve my soil and as a fertilizer. Is it still good for a fertilizer a year later? Thanks

If it was composted before you got it, its nutrient content isn't likely to have changed *that* much in the past 6 months, even uncovered.

If it was fresh when you got it, it will have lost a significant amount of nitrogen, so that the nutrient am'ts/ratios will have changed... but it will still add greatly to the fertility of your soil and is certainly still "good", just not quite the same, you know?

Remember also that a large part of its benefit is in the fine organic matter it contains, which is not affected much by weathering.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
