My First Poppy

Spring is Sprung!! Here is my first poppy!!

Okay that's it- I think you guys are trying to make me cry!!! What a beautiful poppy, rebbetzin!! Are those nasturtium leaves in the background? Counting the minutes till spring here in the cold northeast!

Yes, those are nasturshims. I planted a ton of them this year. So far I have only a few flowers. It is still pretty cold here.

My husband likes Nasturshim flowers on his salads.

I love poppys. However I seem to have trouble getting them started. I even bought a plant to transplant and it did not make it, wish I know what I am doing wrong.!

I have never had much luck with this type of poppy either. This year for the first time I got them at Lowe's in a six pack. I think the tap root is sensitive to being transplanted. These were pretty young so they seem to be doing fine.

I have had good luck in the past with poppy seed you buy in the grocery store for putting on breads. They germinated like crazy for me!!
