I think all this hoping has mostly to do with the off-season. Of course, there is hope with the sowing and growth of plants but there is more by that time.

For me, it is a lot about light during the winter. I was up very early and in my sleep confused mind wondered if the moon was full above the heavy clouds. No, completely the opposite. It was just the lights in the neighborhood and all this bright, white snow that fell yesterday! The light was not escaping into the darkness.

I hope Lesa doesn't mind, here are some more words from poet Brian Brett.

Agh,i know exactly what you mean about the light after or during a snowstorm. Our beige bedroom curtains are plenty dark enough on a normal night, but last night in the middle of the night my eyes popped open and i thought the back yard light was on, it was so bright!
