We dug our potatoes the other day and let them try as it was kind of wet. The question is should I wash off the dirt? or just leave it and wash it off when ready to use the potatoes?

Thanks
Nancy

Hello Nancy,

I usually leave them in the dirt until I am going to cook. If I do harvest them for later use, I rince them off and store them in the fridge.

yeah i wouldnt wash them until your going to need them, a lot of times the skin of the potatoes peels off when washing them.

Thanks. I was thinking it was better to leave the dirt, (not much any way just a little dusty)

When I washed what I picked yesterday (I cooked them last night) I lost a lot of the skin. Good luck!!!

I didn't think about the skin getting lost. Good point! I'm glad you asked this question.

So, we should just dust them off until we are about to use them and then rince. O.k. thanks!
