Raspberry/mint/lemonade

[Gardening with Rabbits]

I have been making lemonade the last couple of years with either raspberries, strawberries or blackberries.

1 cup of lemon juice, about 4 good size lemons.
A teaspoon of fresh mint, but can use more.
Half a cup of raspberries.
3/4 cup of sugar.

I put this in the blender and then put through a strainer and add 6 cups of water.

Sounds delish! I discovered you can use the seeds from berries (that you don't add to jams and jellies). When you have removed the seeds from your mixture, cover them with water and bring to a boil. Add some sugar- wonderful berry juice! I hated throwing all those seeds away. After I make the juice- I still give the seeds to the chickens, who love them. Waste not, want not!

Your lemonade sounds tasty 'Rabbits. My berries are nowhere near ripe, but I would like to make this when they are.

Lesa, do you mean that you use the seeds you would discard for juice? I have obviously never made jam, I wouldn't have ever guessed that you would get anything from the seeds. I feel smarter now...

Yup, that is what we do, thistle... Believe me, you end up with a whole lot of seeds!! They still have a certain amount of flesh on them. Boiling cleans them off.
