Hello folks! I had some 12" deep planters a few years back that contained assorted lettuce and greens. Last year I basically ignored the planters. Some of them grew back but I never harvested them.

This year I had two heads pop up in the planters. I transplanted them both into one of my raised garden beds. The roots on these were at least 8" deep and 1"- 1 1/2" in diameter. I have no clue what they are. I'm guessing some red romaine variety. I attached pics of a few leaves. Anybody have any idea what they are? Thanks in advance.

Did they pop up from seeds or come up from some of the old root stock? There is a type of radicchio (Fiero I believe) that looks exactly like those leaves. If it came up from roots stocks and not seeds that fell it might well be radicchio, which is common in assorted green mixes.
