As you probably know, there are thousands of colors/types of tulips and the tulip was a currency in Denmark for a short time in the 16th century (I Think?!?).
Shane C. is a panelist on Mid American Gardener, and now retired from his local family nursery. He once had a customer who wanted a salmon colored tulip.
He went back and brought out about 5 of the them.
The customer said, "NO! I want a Salmon colored tulip!!!"
He went back and brought it EVERYTHING that could be considered pink OR orange OR salmon colored.
I think the customer "settled" on one of them.
Salmon is in the eye of the beholder.
Personally, I see salmon when I put it next to tomato red and hot pink, where it looks in between.
Also, My skin is warmish, so if it looks good next to MY face, I call it salmon,
and call it a day.
