Yesterday I needed 4 trees transplanted, they where planted 2 to 3 years ago. The 1st tree was a weeping Japanese maple. It took 2 hours to dig out I wanted very large rootball. The next 3 another maple and 2 mulberry popped right out, their roots never left original soil in container. I thought at planting time I teased enough roots out to grow into soil, now I know I have to do a much better job. From now on any thing in a container is going to be barerooted before planting.

Oh, Nyboy, I know exactly how that went. Spouse has had to get planted trees out of their tiny pots often. Usually the trees were "Heeled in" the nursery for just a short time and:th when I thought about them again it was years later.
