Spanish Lavendar

[Must Be Losing It]

I live in zone 5 and a neighbor gave me a nice Spanish Lavendar. Will it survive in my garden or should I keep it indoors?

I am in zone 6 and I just bought some myself and the woman told me to bring it in for the winter.Having said that I leave all other varieties of lavendar in their beds over the winter and do nothing with them and they come back every year, which is not what you are suppose to do, but I didn't know the first year and its been fine. Sometimes I think it depends on how well protected the plants are from the elements and cold as to whether you can actually leave a plant out that otherwise is suppose to be brought in.
