Starting Over - new garden location (?)

Me I'd pick a spot where plants already thrive and I have decent access and site to. Then I'd glysophate it to kill all grass, till, garden. I know, no one else would but you asked.......

It wouldn't take much of a fence to keep chickens out of an area. At least that's been my experience.
