stubbed toes and mud pies

with the rain we had the other night it was enough to help soften up the ground i was trying to dig the other day so that today i was able to get it kinda dug up a bit and cultivated so i can plant some peas at last next time i get outside. finally i will give peas a chance.

i think the killdeer out front got blown away by the big storm we had last week. Mom said there were two eggs left in their nest, but i've not heard a peep out of them for days and usually i would hear them once in a while. perhaps two eggs got eaten by a snake and then the storm and they decided to move on to another location to try again. not sure what happened... :(

the killdeer nest inside the fence is still there last time i looked.

these rains will help soften things up for planting. it was getting pretty tough out there.

everything i planned on doing yesterday got upended and the peas remain unplanted. :(

i've also somehow injured a finger that now complains too often and so with these rains i will probably not try to do too much and hope it recovers. of all things on my left hand - my mouse hand. still at least it does not hurt when i'm using the computer but it's amazing how you find out how much you use a certain finger in a certain way when this sort of thing happens. it reminds me of the times when i broke my left collar bone and the left shoulder blade and in both of those cases i found out how moving my left foot could cause things to hurt at the other end of my body... <taps left foot> but at least hand doesn't hurt so i'm doing ok with this round... :)

making a little headway today on website project for a change.

at least got one update to post correctly with all needed files and it looks like it should.

it's a picture from last winter when we had a reflection from a mirror outside that almost lined up right on the basket and i managed to see it and get a picture:

because i have the date and time captured right in the filename and i keep my camera time fairly synchronized with the timekeepers at NIST it works out as a pretty good way to figure out the angles and degrees if i ever need to do that to find out the particular angle the sun is hitting that mirror and then to isolate which mirror it is and which of the decorations it might be from. however, i'm not going to do that today, but let me say it might be one from Igor...

but it may be a different one, it sure isn't the same one that give us this reflection:
