are those garage doors springs? if so I need one to hang my dogs tire swing on!!!
Yes they are but they are Torsion springs.

What you would what is an extension spring!
You can get one at Lowes just get the smaller one like about #80 that should work as a nice shock absorber for the pup.

Back in the day DH was a spring-maker. That was back before kids when all we had was time to play and money to spend. :/

DH wanted me to tell you - the torsion spring CAN be rebuilt. He has the technology....lol

He says if you cut here and apply a couple of wedges there then bend some thingy (part of the coil, I think) over you will have an extension spring :hu

Yes it will work as an extension spring but it would be wound tight as we say!

This would work well say for a lift arm type of application.
It can be used if that was all you had to work with. But not on a door the springs are rated by inch pounds per inch per turn! Extension springs are a little more simple just be sure to figure the pulleys involved!

Other then that it is simple! ;)

It would hold a tire upright if it were set in cement! That would be cool! The dog could jump on it knock it over and it would pop back up!

Be back soon sending a letter to myself!

LOL, I just had a vision of a dog attacking an upright tire like that and getting slammed back down from the force of a tight spring. OK, so it was a AFV moment... :hide

So what are the springs for?
I am sorry.

I just put that out there!

They are to counter balance garage doors.
There is a lot of different doors around so you need a pair of each common size .

I was just so happy to be able to get these I had to post it!

The cold weather is when all the "Snowbirds" return!
A door that sits all year long and is old as the hills combined with the rapid temp. change when the sun comes up. POP!
