Technical help needed

I am running an HP Pavilion Laptop and Windows XP. I need help on figuring out how to get my smiles and emoticons to be animated on here and at BYC. This is getting pretty frustrating to say the least. :/

Something is blocking the animation. What browser are you using? If you're using IE, try going into Internet Options and setting the security to medium.

If you use Firefox, an ad blocker may be blocking them (although that isn't likely, I use Firefox, have Adblock, and have no problem with them).

I'm using internet explorer, with norton antivirus and webroot spysweeper running. Is that what you needed to know? I'll try disabling the spysweeper and changing the settings on the Norton antivirus and see what happens. That those might be impacting the emoticons never occurred to me.
