What Metal Is This ?

I am tiring to figure out what kind of metal my fountain is made of. It is not rusting but more like oxidation, my nephew said he had a very hard time wielding on it. Any idea what it is ?

Thanks Ducks I dont think it is zinc because articles say zinc reacts to water. Would be the worst metal to use for a fountain.

You have never taken a bath in a galvanized tub?

Yeah. The last time, I took up so much room in the tub I almost displaced all the water!

there are other ways to have a geyser in your outdoors than the kid sitting down in a laundry tub.

Zinc and galvanized steel are the same ?

Zinc is the surface on galvanized steel and iron.

As best as I understand.

Not good at least for fishes. Hoping paint seals in the zinc.
