After about 6 days in the fridge, Goat Milk becomes a tiny bit "goaty" tasting. So, this week I tried my hand at soap making!!

I made three batches of soap, and this is what I got...

Here are some close ups of some of the finished soaps

I bought most of these molds at Michael's.

These small candy molds came in handy for the little bits of soap from each batch that wouldn't fill a whole bar mold.

I only had one problem. The embossing stamps I bought, had one where the design was not in reverse.

Of course, I didn't notice it until I unmolded the soap!!

I contacted the company that makes the stamps, and they are sending me a replacement. They were very quick to reply. I was impressed!!

I am working now on a label for my soaps, Here is one idea.

WOW! That's some beautiful work. Do you sell at farmers markets? When my mother had excess goats milk she always made soft cheese. You can always let people think you did the reverse stamp on purpose. Call it mirror soap or something. ;)

As usual, outstanding work!! I can't believe they sell such cute molds at Micheal's! Too cool. The goats milk soap is very expensive around here- Nice job!!!

(Ooohs and ahhs!) Those are great! I have a friend who makes goat milk soap and sells it at the farmer's market (along with milk, cheese and ice cream!) You can really get creative with it, adding in scents and herbs. I like your label a lot. Your choice of colors and the artwork really suit your product.

Cute! I'm just about to try my first batch, though usually all my milk ends up as cheese, and we never have extra lol...We eat so much cheese I'm having to get more goats.

Beautiful soaps! Thank you for sharing them with us.

Looks great rebbetzin! :thumbsup

That's funny you found a 'bad egg' in your embossing stamps. :P

Is the soap very hard / time consuming to make?

No it wasn't hard at all. Gets a little scary as the soap cures... it takes a while to harden up.

Did you use lye? I am affraid of it for some reason. I think because I am messy by nature. Those are beautiful!

I am a CLASSIC MESSY!! And yes, I used lye... My husband said "You used drain cleaner to make soap?"

It can really burn your skin!! I should have put on gloves to take the soap out of the molds. I learned that the hard way!!
