I need to take out my cucumbers as they are diseased. With all the drama at my house I failed to notice some sort of fungus had taken hold of them. It has a nice trellis of field fencing to grown on, what can I plant that could use the trellis and if the fungus won't bother? I have plenty of growing season left.

I've got those coming in by droves on bamboo teepee's. I wish I could grow more cucumbers there, but I think I would be setting myself up for an epic fail. I also wish I had loofah seeds. Are winter squash susceptible to cucumber fungus/mildew?

Winter squash are really hardy- not bothered by pests like so many other squash. I would try them. What about adding some compost -or new dirt to the area, before you plant?

I have plenty of compost with all the animals I have here, lol. That is an excellent idea, I can refresh the soil and plant a few cucumbers and the rest with winter squash. I am replanting the cucumbers in a different bed, I am determined to make pickles this year!
