What's growing now, Ramona, California Zone 9b

Take a look at the wire on the bottom of the tomatoes cages. That is welded wire 2" x 4", and it is fairly effective at keeping chickens at bay. The larger 6x6 concrete reinforcement wire is good enough to keep the dogs from digging too terribly.

It looks similar to some cattle fencing wire we have. DH uses it for tomatoes to grow up instead of cages. he drives fence posts about 4 ft apart, then attaches sections of this wire. .. as the tomatoes grow, we weave them back and forth in the fencing, saves a lot of tying, he has always done it this way, we have some tomato cages that were given to us in the fall, so I am sure we will be using them also..since he has parkinsons, we depend on the help of family, but our tomatoes have always been a source of pride and joy to us (and all our friends and neighbors, who benefit greatly from our hobby. our life has changed greatly in the last few years, but we still love to share any kind of gardening we can accomplish.
hope to try some square foot gardening this year. The book makes it seem like a great plan.. will see I guess :)

WOW beavis! Thanks so much for the tour, and for sharing your tips!
Your drip irrigation system for seedling trays would make life SO much easier!... and your gardens, WOW! ... inspiring to say the least!

It is 6*F here, and to give you a better picture, I can not tell if it's snowing or the blustery wind is whipping the snow into 3 foot drifts!

I'm thinking by now you could really use some help....:frow
Will work for sunshine and just a bit of HEAT! Let me know... ASAP! ...

Come on over, I could use the help!

One of my daughters home sick from school today, so I have the day off.

Plan on getting some onions planted.

I'll try to post up some pictures of things that are blooming around here for all you people covered in the white stuff.

Did you know that 3 out of 4 Minnesotans truly appreciate our wonderful 4 seasons.
Ah-huh ... those are the 3 that left for AZ for the winter... and I am the 1 stuck here ...

Oh, and you have ROSES too ... :love ... so beautiful! See, I can't even imagine Iris in January!
You take wonderful photos! Thank you for the blooms! My poinsettia is getting rather boring...
More snow is on the way ... I will be sitting in your garden for a while ...

Sorry your daughter is sick... hope she is ok! :hugs

All the gold and yellow colors.. Yellow is my very favorite, and looking at those pics just warm me up(inside anyway)..Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos!!
I had better not even complain a little bit about our 5" of snow and winds, I see from reading the reposts of our other fellow gardners, that they are going thru so much worse. Our morning temps are in the minus degrees , thankfully we have a cosy little house, and no outside animals to worry about.
