Carol, I live in town, but built a Fort Knox coop and run after reading all the DOG/SNAKE/RACCOON/HAWK KILLED ALL MY CHICKENS!!! stories on BYC. I studied everyone else's failures before building my coop. I put 4x4" posts in the ground, skirted all the way around with 2' of 1"x2" welded wire and used plywood and hardware cloth on the coop. I bowed over 16' cow panels covered with hardware cloth for the run and it is skirted with wire too.

@baymule I assume this will be moving with you. I have enough friends with chickens to get fresh eggs and not have to tend them, clean up after them or worry about them. ( Besides, I don't really like chickens! ) I am kind of phobic about touching them after they get real feathers fluffy babies are o.k.

@Carol Dee ummmm....... I built the darn thing so solid, that it will be dang nigh impossible to tear it down.....maybe the run, but I hog ringed it to death.

update:
Picked the 1st zucchini

Pulled peas that died already, planted more.
Broccoli setting side heads.

Going to have raspberries and black berries soon.

Beans on cattle panel arch doing well. Scarlet runner on left and long beans on right

Wild flowers and lilies are so pretty right now.

Those beautiful flower pics would be good for the POW. Your Scarlet runners just reminded me that I forgot to plant mine. They're so pretty, even if I didn't eat them. Everything looks great!
