I bought a couple pounds of worm castings yesterday with the idea that I could somehow use them to build up some poor soil in my front garden. The soil is already planted with squash and beans, so I can't just spread it and work it in easily. Should I just put the castings on top and then water? What would be the best way to use them?

Well, I like 'em in potting soil, PW.

Along with peat, perlite, and a good compost . . .

How about in your container garden?

You only need to put the worm castings on your plants...if you are planting put about a cup at the bottom of the hole if your plant is already there put some around the plant or just move a little soil around the plant and put it in there...Water activates the castings, don't worry about putting too much castings can't burn your plant.

I'd like about 40 yards of custom worm castings! 20 yards'll do! that's one good large pile.
