I once had an old tarp that was terribly threadbare, ratty thing - no longer good enuf even to cover firewood. I bundled it and set it out for garbage collection.

Yes, I knew that about interior walls/carpeting and mobile homes. Everything is geared to efficiency, construction, use of space. The use of space, I very much admire.

Psst, @baymule here's a not so secret secret -- old carpet pieces make a great weed barrier at the base of Lasagna garden beds -- or so say advocated of such techniques. This is especially valuable where some of those tough grasses (like Bermuda) usually manage to insinuate themselves everywhere.

How often did you get to soak in that great bathtub? Gladys Kravitzs keep things from walking off I got a thank you note from mine for fig bars in her mailbox.

@Smart Red yes, I know that about old carpet, but I just don't want that stuff on the property. It would just make more mess and there is enough of that already. I want this place cleaned up, and all that crap GONE! There is a wad of old carpet that DSIL dragged out of the weeds-what is with people anyway. Our good neighbor Robert pointed out to me that I could put it down in the carport, but I didn't want to do that either. Besides, I would have deprived somebody of having new (to them) carpet strips to piece together for their living room!

We are blessed with good neighbors. We seem to have landed in a community where the people are friendly and are happy to have someone new in the neighborhood. It is a racially mixed neighborhood. Black, white, Hispanic and even a native American family. Every one gets along, looks out for one another, and that's how it is supposed to be.

The thing about our present home, if you don't want it, put it out by the curb. I never fail to be amazed by what people will stop and get. I call them curbside shoppers.

Bay, I have definitely been a curbside shopper. I once got 3 compost bins that were in great shape and a pair of metal chairs from the house at the corner from me. You will see one of the chairs when I take a picture of my seating area in the front yard.

Last year, I got a pair of cement shabby chic pots that I couldn't believe people were throwing away. Today, I used a stroller that was in mint condition and even clean that was in front of a vacant home. Lots of other stuff too.

Sounds like you really opened a can of fanny whup on your new house Bay! Your new tractor will make so much hard work so much easier. You need to get your dh to take a picture of you in the operators seat.

It's so neat hat your new neighbors are so friendly and helpful. What a blessing that is.

I have a theory about your carpet strips. I bet the taker was a gardener and probably thrilled that the pieces were precut to path size!

Went Friday afternoon by myself, DH works on Saturdays. He and I had loaded truck with 65 treated wood posts, mostly in the 6" to 8" diameter range. I unloaded them by myself. After that, I went to DD's house.

Saturday, DD and I finished wrapping and taping every single thing. While we did that, DSIL cleaned a strip of fence row on the front of the property. It was over grown with green briars, it looks so good now! DSIL then suited up and started spraying with oil based Kilz. Nasty stuff!

He got half the house done and ran out of Kilz. In the meantime, I picked up trash. I worked a small area where another mobile home once stood, but was never connected to water or electricity. There was insulation on the ground, bottles, cans, sofa cushions, bonus beer cans everywhere, plastic bottles and general garbage. Up under the trees is a sofa, but have not got that far (close) yet. It does not help that weeds are chin high and thick. I waded through a strip picking up trash, then bush hogged that strip. While it doesn't look like a big area, I am happy that there is a clean area. I brought home 13 bags of trash. BTW, there are two other sofas tossed out in the back. Gheesh.

Sunday, after church, we hit it again. Got more Kilz, DSIL suited up again and finished prime coating the entire house. it looks so nice and clean now, even just primed.

On Sunday, DD and I picked up more trash, I bush hogged a few more strips and found a big rock. I scooped it up in the front end bucket and deposited it under an oak tree. Grand daughter sat on it and declared it her rock. We cleaned up and left. I got home at 9:30 last night. We plan on going back in two weeks to finish painting.
