The neighbor is happy with his John Deere. It's a zero turn.
I have forgotten what breed of sheep you are planning on, Bay'.
This picture of St. Croix ewes convinced me that these "hair sheep" are a good idea. They look sheared and cool. I feel sorry for another neighbor's 3 Suffolk and their lambs right now. However, they are freshly sheared so, I guess they are also okay out in the heat.

Me thinks he should get a standard lawn tractor, better to pull a trailer, cart tool out to work on a fence or carry soil or plants where you can't use a big tractor.

if you lived much closer i have a friend that has a John Deere riding mower that needs some cleaning up and maybe a some fixing. it's not a Zero Turn, but it still gets the job done! i want my dad to take a look at it for my friend. it's been stored behind her barn for many years.

I don't know. Repair bills should be cheaper than vet bills....I second the sheep idea....

First off, I knew DH would get a lawn mower.
I realize (or I've been told) that zero turn mowers are far faster than riding tractors, but personally I like the versatility of a rider. I can jump on the riding mower and take coffee to the guys working down in the woods, hook up the trailer and haul chopped wood back with me, dump leaves and weeds down the steep sides of the gully, use the blade to smooth tilled ground, snowblow the driveway, till the garden and still get the lawn mowed in good time.
A zero mower does mowing period. Since I would still need something like the riding tractor (or Gator or such) I would have to find room for two vehicles instead of the one. Nope! If I get a vote, I vote for riding lawn tractor.
