Murphysranch, how do you make them rebloom? Special type of fertilizer? How do you keep them going for 6 months? Any tips would be appreciated.

BTW, I asked my parent for more persimmons and he told me they were all gone. The raccoons ate the last ones. :(

Mary, was that orchid yours? That is beautiful. I can get them to rebloom for a couple years, but after that they seem to slowly die off.

My husband bought it for a special guest. The flowers are actually a very deep orange, which is her favorite color. She was wowed by it and the vase is a beautiful gold textured one. When she left she wanted him to have it. He told her I would take care of it until she returns next April. Well I have news for him, I don't think it's going to make it. I can probably manage to keep it alive but I doubt I will be able to make it bloom with 6 stems.

One of the upscale nursery here will board your orchid till its ready to rebloom. A client told me about very expensive, it is good if you get a orchid for a special occasion. But to pricey unless special meaning.

Soak in tepid water for 20 min about once a week - with a weak solution of orchid food 20-20-20. I used some moss inbetween the bark to keep it moist, esp in our 100 degree summers. I'm struggling for over 3 years with a white fuzzy scale/mite? that likes to infect the plants in the leaf joints and along the backs of the leaves. I threw one away this week cus it was too far gone. I spray with Alcohol to try to stop them.

Never clip off the entire stem. Clip it to a reasonable length right above the joint. 8 out of 10 times I get a new branch of flowers. This one popped up about 2 weeks ago and is screaming along in growth!

Not my Alex, but I have a younger, smaller orchid relative of Alex that has begun a new flower stem. Never, ever did I imagine I could keep an orchid alive much less get it to rebloom. I have clipped it to the supports in hopes of steering its growth upward.
