The land East and North is clay. The land West and South is limestone. Somehow, we managed to find an alluvial deposit of sand where we built and garden, not found nearby in this area. The sand is under nine feet of dark, rich topsoil. We dug down beneath the bottom of the concrete forms to find the sand. We suspect somewhere below the alluvial deposit will be layers of limestone.
