Anyone use it by itself as a fertilizer? It is in the mother earth new article in their fertilizer recipe. But as I was surfing the net a few article mentioned just adding it by itself to flowers like pansies. I bought a huge bag like 50 lbs so i could if it was ok.

Cottonseed meal is an excellent fertilizer if you want slow release nitrogen. Most of it is 6-1-1 but remember that it has an acidifying effect, which makes it great for plants like azaleas and rhododendrons which like acid soil but not so good in the veggie garden if your soil is already acid. You can mix in some lime to help counteract the acid. It's great in the Southwest where our soil tends to be alkaline and it helps bring it toward neutral. It also helps compost break down faster when mixed into the pile.
