I do have a question about canning tomatoes. I pressure canned them and the tomato part floats to the top, leaving a sort of clear liquid at the bottom. 1. Is this normal /safe? 2. Is there a way to keep it from happening?

Yes, that happens to me often too. Something to do with the juice just being heavier and more dense than the pulp. Especially since yours are pressure canned, you won't have to worry since the pH will not be an issue.

That is very normal. You sure will enjoy those canned tomatoes this winter! Makes the best home made chili!!
Or place leftover fried porkchops (I always buy the family pack and have leftovers) in a pan, pour canned tomatoes over them, top with chopped onions and bake until hot and bubbly. DEEE-LISH!

Yep, @happy acres, that happens to me as well. Mostly when the tomatoes are juicier than normal. Squeezing out some of the juice will help, but there's a lot of goodness in that juice. I am just so happy to have my own 'maters that I don't mind the separation.
