Happy Spring 2012 to all (well at least here in FL)

This year I have expanded my garden area about 4x larger than last year, it was my first time trying to garden last year

This is what I had last year to garden in

My first carrot

My total carrot harvest - gone in about 15 minutes, the best tasting carrots I have ever had though

Over all last year I ended up with 1 jalapeno, 4 tomatoes, a snake gourd (successfully grew 1 and saved seeds and have started a new plant for 2012) and a hand full of carrots

This year I have started a lot more vegetables in a 8x20 plot, which i have already outgrew...so I will be expanding shortly

Should be a lot better year this year!

What I have planted this year from seed so far:
5 Different colors of Carrots
Soy beans
2 Pineapples started from the tops
Sweet Corn
Lots of different hot peppers - i have literally 30 bolivian seedlings...didn't expect 100% germination from seeds I saved (2nd successful seed saving venture) and destroying seedlings feels like a crime
3 types of tomatoes

Cheated and bought the following:
1 Blueberry plant
1 Grape plant
20 Strawberry plants

I started most things in containers - mostly because I couldnt wait for the 3 freezes we were hit with to stop (had 3 total days of freezing temps - not sure how you do it up there with real winters)

I am very excited for this season - although we are already working on next year - I live in a gated HOA community so I will be installing a fence and sneaking in some chickens

Oh by the way I will be weighing in a pumpkin this year so don't say you weren't warned!

This is my first flower of the season - bottle gourd

It only has a few leaves on it...is it best to snip the flower since it seems a little premature?

I've never seen such a small plant flower... IMHO, I would leave it, just to see what happens. I'd say, you are off to an excellent start!!
