... I am loathe to put anything besides rain and air on my garden...
Oh and some epsom salts.

So, my little wheelbarrow salad bed is about to really kick into production, and I don't want a repeat of the total loss we had last year to the dang white butterflies of death.

I'm thinking of putting stakes in at the corners of the barrow and tenting screen netting over it with some rocks to anchor the bottom. That way it gets rain and sun and air but the bugs stay out! Salad doesnt need to be pollinated so I'm not hurting it by putting it in isolation...

waddaya think?

That is a good idea... I have used row covers to stop the white moth from getting to broccoli etc...
also I have dusted my plants with Diamatous Earth to stop the worms...both work well
