Boyfriend built me a self watering container today... I have the top on to heat the soil.

Any ideas on what to plant in there? I mostly see tomatoes and peppers in them, but I'm wondering if I could get a good yield of watermelon, pumpkin, squash or cuke. How many plants would you plant in it? It's a ten gallon, dimensions about 20x14.

Thanks for any advice.

all of those need space... bush varieties at least 3 feet each plant...vining varieties would need lots more...

What if you put up a ramp of hog fence and 2x4s for the vining plants to crawl down the side of the container? Trying to think outside the container :p

Oh I don't care if it vines out, in fact I was expecting it to vine out and down the hill, which is why I thought I could get two in there!

Guess I should just stick to one or put two of something smaller in there, like peppers.
