Last year was extremely dry. This year has been decently wet. Once the ground freezes the snow does not help with ground moisture.it's been pretty dry there right? moisture is a good thing in any form (unless you've wet yourself ). haha...

Here the winter snows mostly sublimate which is the water turning directly from a solid (snow or ice) into a gas due to the nearly constant wind. Anything that actually melts either runs off or forms puddles which turn into ice. Since the ground is frozen, it cannot sink into the ground.

Better cold than hot. If too cold I can add more clothing. If too hot, there is only so much I can take off. That's too cold!

So if you believe in Gumperson's Law (that the probability of anything happening is inverselyMost say I have a black thumb and cannot grow anything. I don't have time. I hate gardening. I hate dirt.
Mine is a mess at the end of the summer but the neighbors don't complain when my grand daughters are taking them squash, tomatoes and cucumbers. I'm the only one around that has a garden I guess the neighbors don't want the hassle or mess up their yard but I have had one at this house for 30 years. Not a problem for me. I always get the "Why is your garden so nice?" or How did you get it to grow that big?" questions. The other comments I get is "Your garden always looks so nice."
