I put 3 young roosters into the flock the other day. I put them in the house at dusk with the rest of the birds. There was a little chasing the next few days but they had some weeds to hide in. I had to place them into the house for 3 days when the others just walk in at dusk. Last night they were inside by themselves nestled in with the older birds.

Remember the integration question? Mine always went by when the mama hen cuts the babies loose. That has been about 5 weeks of age.
This second time around hatch...for the hen...they were hatched Aug 4th.....and she is still hanging on to them!! :hu

I think it must be an experience thing for the hens. All the first time hatches with the hens, they kicked the babies out at 5 weeks. Maybe they gain more confidence the more hatches they have.

Who knows really :idunno

Silly broodies

She''s still clucking at them and finding them treats. But they are starting to get on her nerves...and I have been letting her out to free range by herself...no babies ;)
