Sounds like a great party event! I think the sleepover is a great idea. We have friends about an hour's drive who invite us over for a bbq on the 4th of July. We seldom go because their parties go into the night and I don't like driving when I know there are some intoxicated people on the road.

It takes some effort to pull this off. We figure in on how many beds, cots and couches we have available. DD's are both still living with us and have stored twin bed mattresses in our walk in attic upstairs. We put one mattress and DD's futon mattress on the floor of the sewing room, gave other DD and husband, the full size bed in another bedroom, gave our friend the other upstairs twin bed, and she brings her dog and crate, we had friends in the queen sized bed in one of the downstairs bedrooms, and a friend on the LR couch, along with other DD on a cot.
it CAN be done, but you have to plan ahead. We also FB this party 4 months ahead of time, and we are in contact with the people who want to spend the night, so it goes smooth as silk.
I thoroughly enjoy my party every year, and I like sitting around doing nothing the next day after everyone leaves. :D

Venison!
A friend at church was complaining that he had to get last years’ deer out of the freezer to make room for this years’…. (?) I said that if he was looking to dump some meat I would take all that he had. He asked if I was planning to cook it for Thanksgiving and I told him that I was going to can it. I thought he was going to pass out. CAN IT!?!?!?!?!?! He had never heard of such a thing.

He brought me a bag full! I don’t have a clue what ‘cuts’ it was but by the time I got through with it, it was 6 quarts of cubes with onion quarters and a roasted red pepper – all swimming in a rich, dark beef broth.
One is going back to him (to prove it can be done) and one is going to the friend who taught me to use the pressure canner. The rest are going to make amazing chili this winter.

Something about canning it really brings out the flavor too. We love having it on hand to make veggie/venison soup and I also use it to make venison BBQ sandwiches (like pulled pork), draining it, but save the broth.
