need some suggestions for seeds

Tromboncino squash that I learned about right here. It is prolific, and pest free. I buy the sprawling kind. You can eat them tiny like a summer squash or let them cure for winter squash. One full sized squash will feed a whole village. Do a search and see all of the old posts.

I never thought of using kohlrabi for French fries either! Great idea. I grow the purple variety called "kohlibri".

There are more varieties of kohlrabi available than I thought there were. You can use a lot of vegis to make french fries, even zucchini (although they can turn out mushy very easily).

Forgot to mention, the younger kohlrabi leaves can be used for things like soup and stir-fries. They're best when harvest after a period of cold weather/ when harvested at about the size of a large lamb'squarters leaf.

Has to be kohlrabi. I saw the seeds on the .10 cent shelf and said what the heck. I didn't even know what it was, but now I plant it every year. I usually pick one, peel it and eat it like an apple.

YUM, we put kohlrabi back on the seed list. Missed having them this year. Took beets and radishes out. Just did not eat enough of them, mostly planted them for Dad anyway.

Tromboncino is definitely prolific a maybe again since they hold up in the fridge very well for a month. received a stack of new seed catalogs yesterday in the mail even got one called <the cook's garden> interesting catalog.

Good questions, Major'!

Moving from where I had my earliest experiences with garden-fresh melons, left a huge void which I tried to fill for years!

Did you ever find a melon that would grow well? I'm trying one from my seed catalog this year because its supposed to be a short season melon...pretty excited about it!

Kohlrabi is on my wishlist too. I've never tried it. I'll look for those you guys have recommended.

You can't go wrong with the Early Vienna, Journey. They taste like a cross between cabbage and broccoli.
