That pics needs a caption @goatgurl

It's crazy, your pond is frozen and I'm putting ice in the chickens' water to help them stay cool. We hit 120*F a few times over the last 10 days. I barely visit the garden any more, except to resuscitate a few plants now and then.

Just reminds you what a diverse place this big rock is.
It does? You guys are freezing while we're getting baked and somewhere else someone's having perfect weather. I wish I could find the place LOL

@sumi, how about the caption "on frozen pond". poor ducks kept trying to dabble in the water and just bounced their beaks off the ice.

So, Sumi, where are you? The Sahara?

Feels like it. Weather forecast for tomorrow: maximum temperature of 106*F, meaning we're looking at 120*F. (We have a local joke here, because they always underestimate the maximum temperature by about 13*F, we say they add 13*F sales tax to it)

That frozen pond looks real good from where I'm sitting LOL

Well, no squirrels at the feeder today, but this crazy Red-shouldered Hawk was determined to have chickadee for lunch! Several chickadees were hiding out in a hydrangea bush about 15' from the feeder. The hawk dove down into this thick bush several times attempting to get them. All the while I'm thinking... stupid bird, go get the squirrels.

It would not give me a nice face to face portrait of course... gloomy day, poor color, but the best I could get today....

A few minutes later, down the food chain ... Garfield, the neighborhood wondering giant cat showed up. Biggest cat I've ever seen, and so slow, I don't think he would get a bird if it landed right in front of him.

Dang I should be sewing.

That is pretty. On the same limb where we saw the eagle there was a large bird of prey this morning. Even with binoculars we could not get a good look but the way it was turning its head and the way it flapped it's wings when it took off it sure looked like a very large mostly white owl.
