What Color is Your Front Door ?

According to Wikipedia that's part of it, but a major part was that it was easier to keep a dairy barn clean if the insides were whitewashed. Once a year you blast off the inside and the flaking whitewash comes off, bringing dirt with it. Then you apply a new coat with fresh insecticidal properties.

The article did not mention it, but a barn with a white interior makes it much easier to see things. When you are working in a dairy barn that can be important. I painted the shelves in a purpose-built storage room a light bright orange, partly because it was a return to Lowe's and thus cheap, but I wanted a bright color so I could find things better. My wife was horrified at my choice but it was my storage room in a separate building she never visits. The walls were white.

I haven't even given front door color a thought. Vinyl siding is boring beige, doors are melting snow-sand splashed white. I like the idea of a fun color to annoy my family. Ridge, love the orange walls for your storage room. Oops paint can lead you down some interesting places!

I swear guy on next block used oops paint on outside of house, no one wold pick that color.
A house in town was painted bright pink in many shades with white. Everyone made fun of it. The man built a mansion for his wife and her favorite color was pink. She died a week before they moved into her dream house. Years late it was repainted to modest NE colors. My friends husband is color blind and he loved that pink house. I guess the high contrast was appealing to his eye.

Our newly former neighbors painted their house a lavendery blueish purple, if you can visualize that :sick, and the mailbox to match, but left the mailbox post lipstick red. It probably made giving directions to their house a lot easier.
"................yeah, then hang a right and drive until you feel nauseous, that's our house..."

The new neighbors were moved in for an entire 48 hours until they repainted. Much easier on the eyes now.

That is so romantic and sad
