I remember climbing and eating cherries in our front yard when a kid. Nothing said spring like when the cherries where in flower. I have killed more cherry trees then I can count. My last try this spring with 6 tart cherries, I will be returning them soon. I need to accept I can't have a cherry tree.

In 2014 we had a mass of cherries....then the birds came...then...they were none. :hit
This year, HA, HA
17 pies worth, now frozen!!!
I will process when I get back from my vacation.
TOTAL :woot:woot
Great news. It is always a success when we beat the wildlife to a harvest!

I did two things differently this year.
1) I hung CD's from the branches with baling twine
2) I made it out there to harvest!!
Funny thing, both trees are about 20 feet from each other, 5 and 6 years in the ground, so, idk, maybe 8 and 9 years old?
The younger one took off and grew 1/2 again larger than the younger one and it blossomed and fruited 2 weeks earlier, so, of course, played out earlier.
I'll try to take pictures today bc I really want to prune the younger one. It's gotten about 14 foot tall and it's hard to harvest. The older one branched almost at the ground, and it's much easier to harvest.
Gotta prop up the branches on my young pear tree, bc it's LOADED.
Nyboy, how come your cherry trees don't make it? :hugs
Just FYI, both of these trees have a certain amount of protection from the winter weather. I wonder if that has made the difference.
OH, btw, my young peach tree, though very healthy, has NO peaches this year!!!! :he

Must be the clay. They don't grow well here either. I would love to have tart red cherries for PIE! :drool

I had one little peach on my 3-yr-old tree, but some other little 3-yr-old I know picked it off. :barnie
