I think one has to take Monty's tale has to be taken in the light of fun...the cat's having fun and Monty is having fun, while his story is meant to show the humor of the whole thing. Not for one minute do I believe this cat is vicious, nor do I think Monty is making a bed he may not want to sleep in. ;)

Sounds to be like good ol' bonding! :D

Sometimes that's just how cats show "love". :D We had a Tiger Bengal cat (bred 1/4th wild Asian leopard cat) and as much as I babied him, he still loved to ambush me and bite my ankle like being attacked by a rattlesnake. My FIL thought he was stuck up and picked on him just to get a rise out of him, and he would pick back, just like Monty's cat. After we moved and the cat stayed with them, he became my FIL's baby. :) They thoroughly enjoyed their little games and I do think it is a form of exercise, both physical and mental for an indoor cat who needs the stimulation and to exercise his wild instinct.

Loved your narrative, Monty. What a hoot! You could publish that as a short story.

ETA: Don't think I've ever heard tell of anyone being attacked and killed by a house cat, have you?

 No, but this past year there were some cats that made the news...911 was called, the cat had the family trapped in a bedroom, etc. o_O

I used to have a cat that would ambush me like that also, but he never bit down or used his claws. He would just grab my ankle, put his teeth on my ankle and look at me, as if to say, "One more step, lady, and your leg is MINE." He did that every time I refused to stop and pet his belly as I was going through my chores. Funniest thing ever....I loved that cat more than any cat I ever had. :love

I like your story too, journey11. According to the Vet, my sweet, precious little calico kitten attacked him when she went in for spaying at about 6 months of age. HIS story is she died during surgery, but I've always wondered if she just didn't survive the attack. Especially as I was never charged anything for the surgery.

Oh no, that is suspicious. I'd wonder too. :(

Not getting rid of the cat. Not even an option. She never extends her claws or bites, hisses or growls. It's all in fun. I pick on her, she gives it back. That damn washing machine lid trick though...I tell myself that it was coincidence, that she was just creeping behind it and knocked it over at the perfect time...but sometimes I wonder.

This old trailer is falling apart (hence the newly remodeled one), and has the occasional field mouse. Bubbles has more than proved her worth as a mouser. She got one last night. Dew caught her playing with it this morning. She had already killed it, so I suppose she was reliving her victory.

She's actually a pretty loving cat, the friendliest I have ever had. She is definitely Dew's cat, and will follow her around constantly. But if Dew is asleep, I'm number two on the list. She'll follow me into the kitchen when I get coffee and reach up my leg with her little paws wanting held, or jump in my lap at the computer.

She got me again the other night. I was laying on the bed watching TV. I have a night table next to the bed with a shelf on the bottom. Bubbles hid on the shelf and waited until I was good and comfortable, then shot up through the gap between the bed and the table and grabbed my elbow. Holy crap!

I peeked down into the gap to see her little face looking up at me. "Got ya good that time, didn't I daddy!"

So now I have to check the table when I lay on the bed.

Awww @MontyJ you old softie! :love I love the Mocha Bubbles stories. What a fun cat to have. I miss having a cat. But Dh's hunting dog would more than likely kill it. :( Keep use posted on the next encounter, we are cheering for Bubbles! ;)
