My cantaloupe and watermelon seeds only germinated 3 seeds out of 20 each of cantaloupe and watermelon. I have never had this bad of germination rate. I live in North Central Indiana 50 miles north of Indianapolis. I am wondering if it's to late to Re-plant the seeds. I don't think so but I would like to hear your opinion. Thanks

Your normal first frost is probably somewhere around the first of October, maybe late September, is that close? Let's say a 90 day growing season from now. I don't know what varieties you're growing but I'd think you'd have time, especially for cantaloupe.

I am growing early moonbeam watermelon and noir des carmes cantaloupe. I figured I would be ok. We have a surprisingly long growing season and tipton IN where I live is actually in slight valley. It is in geological anomaly. Thanks for your answer

IF it is too late, I'm n trouble as I am 40 miles north of you. I am finally getting my melons to come up-3rd seeding. Will plant sweet corn-3rd planting-today or tomorrow.

What is early moonbeam watermelon? I'm using baby something that is sweet but full of seeds. I don't mind spitting like a southerner.... Target practice.

Welcome to my world of NE Indiana. Replanting is usual for me as I push the envelope trying to keep up with those dang southerners....

Maybe I should try placing a plastic tunnel over my rows. Wish I wasn't so cheap......

Tipton is kind of an oddity as it gets about 2 weeks later first frost

It better not be. Mine aren't started yet.

I have successfully grown melons started early in June. Depends upon the weather, of course, but this seems to be the right year for heat.
