I agree! I had a friend who had heart pains when in her 40s and doctor said women did not have heart attacks if they had not gone through menopause. She went to a different hospital. No heart disease, but still, that was crazy. I just want to get healthy and deal with them as little as possible.

the pcp/community health care i've been going to for years was a big disappointment the last time i went when i said i needed to schedule my mammogram during a visit for something else, i had another doc besides the one they usually assign me. the PCP said i was too young for it at 38! that doc got the nastiest look from me & a rude awakening that i have fam hx of breast cancer diagnosed at 38 in my sister! the original issue i went in for was my twisted ankle that was affecting my knee to the point i thought i had torn the meniscus or ACL since it was popping in pain. the doc says it isn't bad enough to see the orthopaedist or have an x-ray/MRI & that they don't order those tests.

This is the reason I never wanted a PCP. Usually, get sick on holidays, weekends, night, so no PCP to be found. You have to have a good one, or you can really end up in trouble when they refuse to do tests.

Doctor did blood work and it came back as clotting disorder. Not sure if a family trait or acquired. I still think related to chickenpox. I saw a connection with the elevated cardiolipin and infection. Chickenpox is a varicella infection. Recommends to repeat test in 12 weeks, so I probably will be on a blood thinner longer than expected. I have been feeling good except the last 2 days and took a potassium pill today and feel 100% better and worked in the garden some.

My uncle had that Factor 5 clotting disorder. It does run in families, so I should have my Dad tested for it.

I'm glad you're feeling better with your blood thinner treatment. You sound like one tough cookie, can't be kept down. Just pay attention to your body and don't over do it.

I have not seen anything about Factor 5 on my test results, but I guess I will find out more. I do not think I have had a clotting disorder my whole life. I hope they will find answers to this.

Well, today is my first day without the blood thinner. In Sept. I went to a hematologist who said my repeat blood worked showed no clotting disorder. He said the only numbers that had risen were related to infection and he said chickenpox is an infection. He redid a CT scan to see if the clot was gone and I also had an infarction in my lung. Everything was back to normal, so tomorrow I go get blood work again and see the hematologist on Thursday for the results. He is a hematologist/oncologist, who is also DH's oncologist. I have been on Eliquis for 6 months, but I am a little nervous coming off and not on aspirin or anything. If the numbers are back to normal then I have no reason to have a blood clot than I did before all this or anybody else. I was right all along about the chickenpox. I am glad this is over, well it will be when I get my results back on Thursday. Pretty nice to have this doctor look at my original blood work, see the repeat and the numbers went down, and then did the test again and numbers when down again from July to Sept. and know this is related to infection where the other doctor just assumed I had a clotting disorder and did not understand why I wanted repeat blood work, see a hematologist or not be happy about taking a blood thinner for the rest of my life!!!!! You have to read and research and almost be a doctor yourself.

Here also. It is necessary to hear the opinion of several doctors, create their own "working version" and read the medical literature. One day I saw my son a tumor on his leg. The old doctor said - he needed surgery. However, the young doctor has a different diagnosis and said that it will disappear on their own in less than a year. And so it happened. However, when my son had problems with his stomach and he was in the hospital, I also read the medical literature. I went to his doctor and asked sternly: "Tell me the truth! That's Cystic Fibrosis?"
First, the doctor almost fell off the chair, and then laughed for a long time.

GWR, your experience with the DMSO used by your coworker shows that.

Food has more than nutrients but we live by the food we eat. Diet is important. Health care intervention is intervention.

That is great news, GwR. It seemed like too much of a coincidence that you had the chicken pox at the same time. I'd like to have them see if my dad can get off his Eliquis eventually. It is expensive!
