The girls had a couple very sick bovine. (Bovinae)

Daizy and Remington were pretty sick a couple days ago kinda Bloat. The girls were worried and worked with them, they used a Homeopatic Remedy for Digestive Upsets~made by EqvioPathics.

That and walking them brought them back and today they're good!

Thought you might like to know what they used.

Couple years back their stallion was is very bad shape and it made the difference. Has a picture of a horse looking through a horseshoe on the label.

Glad your cows are better. Bloat can kill them. I've had horses with colic and drenched them with mineral oil and walked them until my legs nearly fell off.

The girls were asking me what to use, what would break up bubbles, I didn't know, so they used what they used on their horses. They were kinda worried cows are built different, but it worked.

When horses colic and are given mineral oil it's usually to help move an impaction through the gut.

Bloat must be different in different animals, it is my biggest fear. If a dog bloating doesn't have surgery it dies 100% of the time.

If the colc is caused by torsion ( twisted intestine or stomach ) it causes death of the affected area. The portion of the intestine /stomach turns dark purple from restriction of blood flow and can burst due to fermentation gasses expanding the restricted area that exceeds the tissues ability to hold together ... death follows unless one can get a Veterinarian to perform emergency surgery in time. Often the surgery is not successful. Hope this helps to undertand how serious colic can be.

i remember days when i would be heading up to the Equine Clinic for my few hours of work after i got out of school. there were days when i would be about a mile from the clinic & would just smell that colic surgery took place. sure enough i'd get in the door & head straight to the supply room & find all the instruments waiting for me to clean, inspect & repack them for the next surgery. i don't remember seeing many horses pass away from this type of surgery. i only remember 1 time walking into the surgery room to get to the autoclave/surgery storage room & the body was still in there while they were waiting for the equipment to move it. creepy but didn't phase me much.

they had something in their main treatment area that i had questioned when i was 1st there. they had a cabinet that appeared to be full of stones of all sizes & specimen jars with unusual items they had pulled mostly from horses. they used it for training the many students they hosted. the largest stone/calcification they had in the case i thought was about the size of my head. not sure how a horse could have not shown signs of this to it's owners before it got that big.

When there are these type of stones ... often the first signs of any discomfort is when the bottom portion of the stone laying on the gut starts to cause the gut blood vessels' blood flow to be cut off and then the gut starts to die. If caught in time and a surgery is performed the animal should recover but If the gut bursts there the prognosis is not too good.

You need to look at what caused them to bloat. If the fall has brought on green growth that the cows aren't used to, that could be it. Fill them up with hay before turning them out and only let them graze for a couple of hours until they get used to a change in the grass.

I will dry lot my sheep soon as I am planting rye grass seed. It will need about 2 -3 months before I can let them on it. I will make sure they eat a lot of hay and restrict their grazing so as not to cause bloat or scours.

Mineral oil on my horses was given to them with a large syringe. I don't know if it would work with bloat. I lost a horse to colic once because I didn't get to him soon enough. Causes of colic according to the vet; he ate a leaf, he ate nothing, the sun came up, the sun went down, anything and everything and just because.

Oh, Bay, don't forget a good roll in the dirt or bedding for the itchy back. Intestinal / stomach torsion could very well occur.
