It's official... 10.05" of rain for the month of February is the new rainfall record for Vancouver, Wa. / Portland, Ore. area with a week to go. The old record was 10.03" set o 1996. Our average rainfall for Feb. is 3.5 " . Rivers and creeks are running high , and some flooding in flood prone areas.

No. We are at the very N end of the Willamitte Valley with gently rolling hills. If you go North and East about a mile and a half, you will bump into the Cascade Mts. If you go West about 10 miles , well you will get the gentle foothills of the Coast Range.

Update ... the new rainfall record for the month of February for our area of SW Washington is now 10.32" .

We got rain all summer long and then when winter came it was bone dry. I once spent a couple weeks in Seattle and it rained everyday of course when I lived in Miami, Fl it rained everyday too, lol.

Seattle has out-snowed king-of-winter Minneapolis (link).

We have now banked 7.1" of rain for the month of March . The record for March is 7.89". The forcast for today is for `1/4" to 1/2" of rain. So we could possibly have a new record or mighty close to it. As of this morning we have 41.31" of rain to date for the water year while normal rain to date is 30.29" of rain. The Columbia and Willamette Rivers are starting to overflow their banks. Mud slides onto mountain roads are increasing so some roads are being closed untill the slides are stabilized and slide debris are cleared off the road.
