I love pear butter. Super simple peel, core, and puree the the pears. A food processor saves you a lot of time with this. Put it in a big pot. Add sugar and a little water or apple juice so it doesn't scorch. Turn the burner on low stir every so often. Let it bubble away. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice and clove in small increments. Stir taste it in about 20-30 minutes. If its not right add more, stir and taste again in 20-30 minutes. When it tastes just this side of Nirvana you're good. Turn the burner off and get canning.
I don't have increments to give you because its all weight based. If you have ____lbs of peeled cored pears you need ___ cups of sugar. The spice mix is all to taste. Just give it time to infuse into the pureed fruit. Don't rush it, you will be glad you tasted and retasted it as you let it cook.
And before you say anything I'm sure someone you know knows how to can. So ask around now so you can plan ahead
A little lemon juice to give it the acid you need to safely can it and you're good to go. I used an apple butter recipe and swapped it out with pears and it comes out amazing.
You can also do this with peaches. Peach butter is sweet and absolutely amazing. Makes great gifts and is super easy also.
Another thing to look at is brandied pears. Google them there are a number of recipes (including 1 from Martha herself) those you could serve with a nice piece of pork. Brandied pears are very easy to make and just need time to "marinate" before enjoying.
