You can Google "pear pie" and get all kinds of recipes, I just did. I've made pear crumble before, delicious. Chop up a ripe pear and put it over vanilla ice cream. Make pear ice cream. Eat them fresh. Toss a few to your chickens or pigs.

I've used pears in jam and jelly. I've canned pears and eaten the canned pears sort of as a dessert at lunchtime. The juice they are canned in is a great drink.

I made it quite a few years and then became so busy with gardening during late summer that I would miss the Bartlett pear season. Later, I learned that D'Anjou were okay. Still, it was Bartlett that I preferred, for flavor and memories ;).
