Craigslist and Other Bargains

NOPE ... fiddleneck is an annual weed with orange blossoms on the top tip that looks like a neck of a fiddle that unfurles for the next flower from the bottom up... grows all over here. Just 2 - 3 leaves will kill a lamb, 5 will kill a full grown ewe. I necropsied quite a few sheep in Vet. Pathology lab to determine the cause of death. :(

We don't have that around here, that I know of. Not many flowers at all on our land except dandelions, clover, bluets, mint, autumn olive, honeysuckle, multiflora rose. All good eats for sheep.

We got a log truck of birch for firewood. $1400 for approximately 12 cords delivered. That's about $116/cord. Even if it is 10 cords, that's $140/cord.
The typical price last year for split cords of birch was $300-$375. Fortunately we had plenty of wood last year and didn't have to pay the ever increasing price for it. I'm pretty happy with this find. That's at least 6 years of wood for us.
Of course there will be work involved, but we work pretty cheap.

Your picture of those logs remind me of a small log I have wrapped in a beautiful Christmas ribbon that I like to place in front of my fireplace. It last lasted many years and still looks perfect.

New price for all $604.68

Used Craigslist price- $200. Yeah, I’m happy with that deal!
