Cardiff is the capital of Wales and nearly the southernmost city.

Sunrise in Cardiff was at 4:55 AM, Sunset at 9:33 PM.

Today, at 48° North latitude, my Sunrise was at 4:51 and Sunset will be at 8:51. So, exactly 16 hours :idunno. But, of course, there is quite a lot of time with light in the sky before and after these times. I can see quite clearly at 3:30am. As an early-riser, I appreciate morning light.

Let's pick on @Ridgerunner ;). In New Orleans Sunrise was at 5:59 AM, Sunset 8:04 PM. Ha! I have 2 hours more precious sunlight :).

A light that used to bother me at night was a blue light on a phone charger. I finally stopped using it. It surprised me that I would awaken so often, puzzled by the blue light introducing into my world of sleep and dreams.

And in exactly six months I should have two hours more sunlight and should have weather where certain cool weather crops will grow.

I need to look at the growing season for green peas down here. I want six of my raised beds clear by March 1st so I can get the beans, corn, and such planted before it gets too hot.

Pick on me will ya!!! :plbb

Even that much light can decrease melatonin uptake, disrupting sleep patterns and also decreasing immune, endocrine and nerve function. Think about all the people who regularly sleep with digital clocks, cell phones, night lights, etc. on in their rooms and about the house that cause too much light for melatonin uptake. You were right to get rid of it.

The only light I allow in my room at night is that put out by the stars and moon. I like silence and darkness when I sleep, so I make sure it happens.

@Ridgerunner when we lived in Livingston, 75 miles north of Houston, I planted green peas in January. The vines and leaves can take a frost, but not the flowers or pods. March was usually the last frost. So consider your location in comparison.

The planting guide for here says I can plant them in September for a fall crop. The days until harvest is 60 to 70 days. September is too early here, the heat doesn't usually break until early October. If I have a bed open by then, and I should, I may try planing one totally in peas and see what happens. I can always cover then in case of frost. Last year frost probably would not have been a problem until January anyway. And that was a light frost. But you never know what winter brings down here.

I left my phone charger on in the living room last night plus 2 dehumidifiers both in and out off my bedroom, and barely slept. It would be wonderful if no electoral's are about at all during the night. Maybe I used to be a caveman in my last life ;) . Don't worry I don't really believe in reincarnation :)
