Yikes. Haven’t seen any this year but they came through a a few years ago and literally ate all the grass in the yard. That was before we had 35 chickens though :clap
We have red ants. Dont forget how much they like a fat wiggly larva.
 
Do they trigger on cooling weather? It seems they are north and far south so I am confused as usual. Of course watching the path of a flying moth gives me some idea of why it might just be random.
If I had to guess I would say dry weather. I seem to remember them showing up around the first good dry spell in August and this is the first week for months that we haven’t had rain.
