Wait! @MeanCheek has Salish neighbors in western Montana ;)!

Also, the northern part of the Columbia Plateau -- Salish people.

gotta admit, Puget is kinda a strange name ... moreover, i suspect that us Americans are not pronouncing it correctly.

Well that's a rabbit hole! HA! Turns out Puget Sound was named for Peter Puget, second lieutenant in George Vancouver's (British) 1792 expedition of the area. The Salish called it Whulge.

I didn't realize they lived so far inland.
