I love smoke trees. I've only had the purple ones. There were three on the property when we bought two years ago, and I brought several with me. Now there are babies all over. I'm going to dig them up this winter, pot up and then sell them next summer for some pocket money!
This morning, on the Clark Conservation District Fbook post, I learned about a native plant, Oceanspray. Holodiscus. I've got some perfect spots for them along a disked fence line, when I'm able to find some seeds.
They are very pretty to happen upon in the forest, during their bloom season. It immediately feels park-like, as though landscape people must have been out there planting them.
Looked up oceanspray Holodiscus a shrub or small tree is widely grown on the pacific northwest coast and northern Ca. . Understory shrub, or small tree, attract bees and butterflies.
