I've been eating quite a bit from my garden lately.
Coleslaw, collard greens, peas, romaine lettuce, salad bowl lettuce, cucumbers, strawberries, pickled beets, parsley, oregano.
Made pickled beets, I'm telling you, they are so delicious. 😋 Beets will be a regular for me every spring & fall.
I'm impressed with all this good homegrown food.
Tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, garlic, still growing, looking good.
😋

I bought some purple potatoes and they started rooting on the first day. Though I felt disappointed at the time I then thought these would grow really nicely so planted some in a pot and have plenty more to plant in my garden.

Here's the first few and they are coming through pretty good so far

More berries! I made some black+red currant syrup today.

It is special because all the black currant and gooseberry plants were propagated from cuttings in 2018 (from our neighbor's plants in Cologne). This is the first year we have a decent harvest - good enough for me to bring out the steam extractor from the pantry.

Don't know why, the gooseberries are pretty small - so I also add them in. From about 2kg berries (also some tiny strawberries) I got about 1.1L juice, and the color is charming.

The leftover will go to the hens.

After adding sugar, now I have currant syrup to make lovely sparkling water.

Wow, artichokes ... in Canada 😊. You should be feeling special!

Peas and greens here. Nothing more special, altho having the peas feels good right now. There are quite a few tomatoes showing up on the plants but their shapes are making me concerned that I may have mixed up some labels and have more of my jelly beans and less of DW's cherries than intended 😏. The cucumbers are showing some flowers but I probably should take them off. All of the vining plants are really small, probably from being slammed around by the record heat 7-10 days ago.

Artichokes. I remember visiting my uncle on the Monterey Peninsula as a kid and seeing those strange looking fields of artichokes.
